40 Great Nail Art Ideas - Your Job

Hello, hello!

Today's prompt is "Your Job" and I must admit I was pretty excited about this one. I think it was the one prompt I had already my idea in the beginning!

I love reading what job the others ladies are doing for living. It is so much fun to know a little bit more about them. Be sure to click on the links at the end of this post! :)

Pinkie: Chromosome 21, 16 and X/ Ring finger: Chromosome 12 and 13 / Middle finger: Chromosome 14 and 1 / Index: Chromosome 2, 21 and 4

A little bit of explanation, hm? Or are you as smart as I think you are?

I work as a lab technician in a cytogenetic lab in a children hospital! These are little chromosomes here. I will explain later what I do exactly, but first...

Genetics 101: You have 23 pairs of chromosome in all of your cells. When you make a baby, you give 1 chromosome and your partner give 1 of his "pair". That's how you get genetic material from both the mother and the father.

Pinkie: Chromosome 21, 16 and X/ Ring finger: Chromosome 12 and 13 / Middle finger: Chromosome 14 and 1 / Index: Chromosome 2, 21 and 4

Some diseases are transmitted genetically and can be discover early in the pregnancy.

Ex: Mrs. go to the doctor because she had a test that conclude she had a higher risk of having a child with Down Syndrome or maybe she has an familial history of a transmissible disease and have an amniocentesis (the liquid in what the baby floats). We get the sample and put it in "culture", ie: we wait for the cells to multiply and when we have enough cells, we do a lot of complicate stuff  (I won't get into more details, it's too early for me to do that!) and BOOM, chromosomes appear :)

After, my job is to take pictures of these chromosomes and make a karyotype (Karyotypes describe the chromosome count of an organism, and what these chromosomes look like (..) Attention is paid to their length, the position of the centromeres, banding pattern, any differences between the sex chromosomes, and any other physical characteristics. Thanks Wikipedia!)

Pretty cool, right? I also work with blood samples (we have to do sometimes karyotypes for couples with infertility problems and for patient with cancers.)

Chromosome Y, 21 and X

My background looks a little bit dirty, isn't it? It's a joke with myself, really. When we do the complicate stuff (mentioned earlier), sometimes the cytoplasm/cell membrane of  the cell doesn't dissolve completely and we have a dirty background. I tried to recreate it :P

Happy polishing!

40 Great Nail Art Ideas - Black & White + Skittles

Hello, lovely people!

TGIF! Today is Friday and you know what it means! Yes, this is the day where a bunch of nail artist girls from around the world present you the 40GNAI!

The prompt was black and white with a pattern assigned to each participants. Mine was skittles!
I just want to clarify something, I am not a skittle person. I like my nails to be the same or if I do a landscape that they come together as a whole. Sooo, I don't know if my skittle is pretty or original because I don't do them usually.

So here it is. My black and white skittle!

On my pinky is a coat of Clearly Spotted by Color Show Maybelline over a black base. For the middle and the ring finger I used some vinyls and create lines and geometric patterns. My index was handpainted to create a tile pattern (but it looks a little bit like drunk squares haha). Finally my thumb is just black, because I love black nails and I do what I want, nah.

(Sorry for the cat hairs.. They are always stuck on my nails and I never see them before I look at my pictures on my computer u_u")

So what do you think? Win or fail? :)

Happy polishing!

Black And White Geometric Nail Art

Hello!

Back with this geometric pattern I did a couple weeks ago! Initially when I started this pattern, it wasn't supposed to be done late in the night, but once I started I couldn't stop myself.

I just had to do all my nails NOW.

Geometric Abstract Nail Art

Hello to you, Reader!

Will I see the end of my catch up one day? I don't know. Haha. I'm so behind my normal schedule. Until recently I had zero motivation for keeping the blog up and running but I'm trying to be more diligent with my posting. (Is diligent the right word?)

ANYYYWAAAYS.

Onto the nails.

I did an abstract geometric mani inspired by an image found on Pinterest.

I first started with a sponged background. I used a gray polish to make it "dirty" like in the original picture. I'm not sure you can really see it, but I can see it (maybe because I know it's there).

What I like with the abstract side of this mani is that I could do everything I wanted and it still looked cool.

THUMB. Hello to you!

The overall effect was pretty cool IRL. I like these mani that look so complicate and everything when really it's quite simple. Do you?

Happy polishing!

Let's Try Those Untrieds! - Supernatural "Meg 2.0" Swatch

Hello!

In an vain attempt to try all my untrieds, I'm showing you today Meg 2.0 by Supernatural Lacquer. I actually bought this bottle a few months ago and I haven't still wore it until two weeks ago. Shame on me, I know.

Let's Try Those Untrieds! - Supernatural Lacquer "Charlie" Swatch

Hello Reader!

I think my new resolution for this year is to swatch all my untried polish in my untried box. I have a lot of nail polish just sitting there, waiting for their moments. Like you already know, this will be a work in progess since everytime you take one nail polish out, three come in. Haha. You know what I'm talking about, right. HOOOOOARDER.

WNAC - Black And White

Hello!

Today's the last day of the WNAC, the January at least. The "matte month" is coming to an end and for this week's prompt, the theme was black and white.

I decided to make some lines to practice a little bit more my skills at freehanded lines. Even though, they are not what I had planned exactly in my head I really like the result.

Dry Watermarble Made It Easy - Purple and White

Hello to you, Reader!
A few months ago, I tried the dry watermarble technique and did a mani I never had the opportunity to post until now. I followed a tutorial on Instagram and also the instructions of Pshiiit to make the technique successful.

I was really happy with the result, so let's take a look!

31DC version 2.0: Day 14: Paisley

The day I was fearing came! Paisley. *TADADADA*

I was dreading the prompt. Like, really. I admire everyone who can make paisley. I just don't seem to have the courage to do it. They look so complicate and detailed, I'm just like a deer in the middle of the highway. Strucked by fear. A little maybe too melodramatic? Huh. Okay....

Seriously, though. If you look up on Internet, paisley design are really elaborate. Too much. Not for me haha. Maybe if I practise more, I can achieve it one day. (If I really want... Mh... Nah, no thanks.)

A while ago, I saw on Youtube a paisley tutorial by Packapunchpolish. They look easy to do, so I decided to give it a go.

Mine turned a little bit simpler than hers, but I think I like the effect. It is really nice, don't ya think?

31DC version 2.0: Day 13: Geometric

Wait, what?

There's no post for day 12?? Since this prompt was a complete failure for myself, I didn't really take much photos so it would be completey useless to put them here.

If you absolutely want to see them, I have one on my IG (@irrationails)

Now that we cleared this mysterious disappearance, let's talk about day 13. I had so much ideas for this one and I settled down to my design only because I wanted it to be challenging. Well it was!!

I was inspired by Nailuminium and her geometric diamond. Her work is truly amazing. She can make intricate designs and it looks sooooo nice! She even make tutorials so beginners can try to replicate her designs!

31DC version 2.0: Day 5: Black&White

Today's prompt was really vague for me. I didn't know what to do exactly. Black and white. There's so much possibilities!!

I went to my dear Pinterest and looked for some inspiration. This is what I came up with.

Lines everywhere, every day.

Loaded Lacquer: Nail Mail of the Week

Hello to you, Reader!

Last week, I received a package from Loaded Lacquer at my mom's house. Since I moved out I have to wait to get my things. I was so excited when she brought it with her when she came to see me !

I bought three new polishes from Heather, maker of Loaded Lacquer, and I would have bought more.  I need to control myself when I shop on her site. Everything she makes is beautiful and well thought.

For today's pictures I tried to take them in my homemade light box I finally made yesterday. I didn't have something long and large enough to make all the height so you can see a line. Oh well. Perfection doesn't exist, huh. If everything goes as I planned I should have my ''real'' light box by Friday. Exciting. This nail thing is getting real!

Enough with the rambling. Onto the nail mail !

She changed her logo, it's less bling-y. I don't know which one I prefer, her new one or old one. Aren't they pretty all lined up?

Megalodon is a blue/grey crelly with triangle glitters (white and silver), hexagons (two different blues & silver) and flakes (lavender.) It is beautiful and I can't wait to wear it even if the Shark Week is over. I'm crazy like that.

No Bra is a light pink crelly. It's from the Nude Jiggle Trio. I only bought this one because I felt like the others two weren't really me even if the name were funny enough to consider to buy them. It looks so simple and chic. I'm glad I purchase this one.

Dragon Fruit is a crazy pink neon crelly. It's so bright in "real life". I couldn't get the right shade even if I try everything. This kind of color just doesn't want to be taken in picture. I feel like it's a summer shade. I'll probably wear this one in the middle of the winter when I'll get sick of the weather.

Loaded Lacquer is one of my favorite indie brand, because she brings something new every time she releases new polishes. Her combination and choice of color/finish is pure Genius! Do you own any Loaded Lacquer polishes? Which one is your favorite?

Happy polishing! I'll see you Thursday, Reader!
